Pet Pig Care

Pet pigs are smart, social, and full of personality, and they need veterinary care that’s just as unique as they are. At Groton City Animal Hospital, our team has experience working with pet pigs and understands that their health needs are very different from those of dogs, cats, or even other farm animals. Whether you’ve got a mini pig, a potbellied pig, or even a “mini” pig that didn’t stay so mini, we’re here to help. We offer in-hospital and house call veterinary services for pet pigs, so your friend can be seen wherever they’re most comfortable.

Wellness & Preventative Care

Just like any other member of the family, pet pigs benefit from regular checkups. We offer wellness exams, vaccination recommendations, deworming, parasite screening, and nutritional guidance to help keep your pig healthy and at a good weight. (And yes, we know they’ll try to convince you they’re starving. Don’t fall for it.)

Dental Care & Hoof Care

Pig teeth grow continuously and can become overgrown or sharp if not managed. We offer tusk trimming and dental evaluations to keep your pig comfortable and prevent injuries — to themselves and to you. Overgrown hooves are one of the most common issues we see in pet pigs. Regular hoof trimming helps prevent discomfort, mobility problems, and joint issues down the road.

Additional Services

We also offer diagnostic imaging, routine surgical procedures, and sick visits for pet pigs. If your pig is acting off — not eating, lethargic, limping, or just not being their usual opinionated self — give us a call.

Why Choose Us for Your Pet Pig?

Finding a vet who’s comfortable working with pigs isn’t always easy. Our team genuinely enjoys working with these animals, and we stay up to date on the latest in pig-specific medicine. We know that pet pig owners often feel like they’re on their own when it comes to finding good veterinary care — and we want to change that.
